AMENDMENTS TO LOCAL LAWS

Cook Shire Council recently made amendments to Subordinate Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2016, Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2016 and Subordinate Local Law No. 4 (Local Government Controlled Areas, Facilities and Roads) 2016. For more information Click here.

LION'S PARK PLAYGROUND COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

Cook Shire Council is pleased to present three proposed designs for the upgrade of the playground equipment at the Lion’s Park on Charlotte Street in Cooktown to the community for public consultation. Find out more.

CAMPING AT ARCHER POINT

Council has been asked to let campers and visitors to Archer Point know that, while still open to day visitors, overnight stays are currently only allowed in a small area. This is to allow for rehabilitation works and regeneration of the coastal ecosystem and surroundings of this special area. Please be advised that low impact construction works are to commence in Cooktown on Monday, 28 September 2020. Find out more. 

ROADWORKS BATTLECAMP ROAD

Please be advised that part of Battlecamp Road (3.6km east of Normanby River) will be partially closed from Monday 17 August, for approximately 8 weeks for required road upgrade works. Please note that road users might encounter short-term delays when travelling along this route.  We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause. 

Pormpuraaw Camping Closed for 2020

Cook Shire Council has been requested by Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council to advise travelers that due to COVID-19 camping season has been closed for the rest of 2020. This includes camping at Chapman River, Mungkan River, and Coleman River camping grounds. For further information, or to request a refund please visit the Pormpuraaw website.
