Cooktown Library Business Incubation Hub
Shared working spaces are becoming popular around the world as innovative entrepreneurs choose to work collaboratively and share ideas and enthusiasm for new business start ups. The Incubation Hub at Cooktown Library aims to build community capacity, promoting sharing of ideas and skills that will increase the community and business capacity and further ensure self-sustainability. Thanks to State Libraries of Queensland Vision 2017: Incubators of Ideas, Learning and Innovation funding, the Incubation Hub now has six computers with privacy screens and additional spaces for users with their own devices. A series of workshops to encourage innovative ideas for existing business owners or entrepreneurs are being scheduled, with workshops based on the results of the 2015 Cook Shire Business Survey. For more information on the Incubation Hub, contact Council's Economic Development Officer.

National Broadband Network
The National Broadband Network (NBN), delivered to the premises via fixed wireless technology, is a critical enabler to diversifying our economy and increasing the economic output of the region. By facilitating access to domestic and global markets, providing flexible and innovative educational options and improving health services, Cook Shire has a much more sustainable outlook. This cross industry infrastructure is expected to be installed mid to late 2016 and any residents and businesses outside of the direct rollout map will still be able to access high speed broadband by way of wireless and satellite technology, at speeds comparable with regional cities at up to 25mbps. Click here to see if NBN is available at your home or business yet.
