Community Engagement Policy
Cook Shire Council is committed to engaging the community across a range of policy, program and service issues.
Genuine and effective community engagement has benefits for Council and citizens. Engagement enables the community to be informed about Council events, activities, projects, issues and stratigic direction. It allows them to voice their own opinions and this can promote a sense of connectedness and wellbeing.
The community plan is a 10 year high level plan for the Cook Shire that identifies community needs and articulates the Council's and community's long-term vision, aspirations and priorities. A community plan is a ‘whole of community' plan not just local government, it includes a wide range of stakeholders and all levels of government.
