Events and Celebrations

We love a good excuse to celebrate!

Cook Shire Council run and participate in various celebrations and awards ceremonies. Check out some of the biggest annual events in Cook Shire, see how you can be involved, and make sure to read the Event Information Kit if you are planning your own event in the Shire.

Cooktown Waterfront Official Opening

Council is seeking interested stallholders to be part of the Cooktown waterfront official opening. The event will be held at the Webber Esplanade waterfront precinct on Saturday, November 17 from 3pm to 9pm. Food, non-alcoholic drinks, fundraising, service organisations, information tents and retail stalls are encouraged to apply. Site fees will be free, however all stalls must apply. Where a food permit is required, a fee is applicable. Cook Shire residents will be given preference. Successful stallholders will be notified by November 2, and will be allocated a space by Council. Responses must be sent to  by October 29.

Australia Day

Australia Day is an annual favourite with a regular attendance of around 150 locals who help us acknowledge and celebrate our outstanding citizens and be reminded of all the reasons why being an Aussie is so great.
