Community Donations Program

The Community Donations Program aims to provide assistance to community organisations that make a positive contribution to the quality of life of the community or offer benefit to the Shire as a whole, through projects, activities and events. One off payments of up to $1000 are available year round through this program.

Applicants are required to provide specific details of the project, activity or event in need of support. This will include the proposed start and end dates, a description of what the project is about and who will benefit, and how the grant funds will be used.


  • Improve the capacity and well-being of the Cook Shire community
  • Improve the quality and opportunities for use of public space across the region
  • Expand community organisations capacity to provide ongoing services
  • Increase and encourage active community participation
  • Promote community awareness and value of cultural and community events and festivals
  • Enhance the profile and appeal of the region - attracting new visitors to the region with a diverse events and festivals program
  • Generating local economic activity, tourism, and development


  • Be a Community Organisation – An incorporated not-for-profit organisation/ club or charity consisting of people having common interests. Includes sport and recreation clubs, social clubs, school P&C associations, arts and cultural groups, hospital foundations, religious orders and service organisations
  • Organisations must be based in Cook Shire or, if based outside the Shire, provide a particular activity, service or event which will have significant positive impact on Shire residents
  • Have a valid public liability certificate of currency with appropriate coverage
  • Have not lodged an application in the Sponsorship Program or Community Small Grant Programs for the same event/project
  • Donation request does not exceed more than $1000

Download and save the guidelines and application form to your computer, read through the guidelines, complete the application in full and return to Council with at least six weeks notice to when the support is required.
