Background
Councillor Danny Lee is a fourth generation local man of Cooktown from the union of the Shipton and Lee families dating back to the early 1900’s. Danny lived and worked in Cook Shire and as far north as Weipa as a plant operator.
He travelled through Asia, Europe and the UK and returned to Australia where he worked for several mining camps as a plant operator and occasionally filling in between with truck driving to travel around Australia before returning to Cooktown, met and married his wife Joyce. They have four children, Daniel, Rebecca, Tamara and Heidi.
Danny has been involved in many community activities throughout the years including Judo Club, Little Athletics, Managed his Coffee Shop, President of the Cooktown Pistol Club, Executive member CYMAG, Tale Twister and Vice President of the Endeavour Lions Club, Chair of CYMAG Environmental Inc to name a few. He was a school bus driver and local tour guide prior to being elected as councillor.
