Deputy Mayor Robyn Holmes

Councillor Holmes is serving in her first term with Council, having been elected in 2016.

Robyn has a strong rural background, having been raised on a sheep and cattle property in the Hughenden district. Robyn has lived and worked in mostly country areas, including Roma and Hughenden, in a range of roles from banking to the education sector and retail management. She moved to Cape York in 2006, where her husband's family had interests in Kalinga and Alkoomie stations.

Cr Holmes holds a Certificate IV in Government, is a Justice of the Peace and has been involved in many community groups and charity events in Cooktown during the past 10 years, including the popular Police Charity Golf and Bowls fundraisers.
