For the first time since 1982, there will be an Agricultural Show in Cooktown.
Cook Shire Council will hold this exciting event, celebrating the opening of the much anticipated new Council Administration Centre, in Furneaux Street Cooktown. Two great events, one fun filled day.
Community Groups have been actively assisting Council with the organising of the Agricultural Show with excitement and anticipation growing as various events, competitions and activities are formalised. There will be numerous divisions of produce and baking competitions, demonstrations, animal displays and art works to be admired. Just like the Lakeland State School's Prize Winning Giant Pumpkin pictured below.
Some of the displays include Cooktown's Historical Society look back at Council over years gone by, Cape York Marine Advisory Group's display on the Great Barrier Reef, Cooktown Community Swimming Pool's "Keep Watch @ Public Pools" program and various livestock breeders showcasing their pride and joys.
The Cook Shire Agricultural Show will incorporate the Council's New Administration Centre "Open Day", where the community will have their first opportunity to have a look around the hub of Cook Shire Council, there will be guided tours available throughout the day.
