QHORSE SUPPORTS CALL FOR HORSE REGO
QHorse [Queensland Horse Industry Group] supports the call by the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) for all horse owners in Queensland to register their horse ownership and contact details with the DPI&F so they receive the DPI&F equine influenza e-newsletter.
Spokesperson for QHorse Annie McDonald, said it was essential that all horse owners did the right thing and helped the equine influenza emergency response effort.
"Registering horse ownership and contact details will mean that biosecurity information will be sent directly to those who need it the most - horse owners themselves," Ms McDonald said.
If you own a horse, pony, donkey, mule, go to the DPI&F website at www.dpi.qld.gov.au/horses and follow the links to equine influenza webportal then the link to 'register horses and get email updates'.
Once subscribed, a regular e-newsletter will be sent to all horse owners that register updating them on developments with the horse flu outbreak.
Ms McDonald said QHorse strongly supported DPI&F Biosecurity Queensland staff so that effective and targeted communications and community engagement could be undertaken with horse owners.
"I urge all horse owners to continue to comply with the movement bans and to put in-place effective on-farm biosecurity measures as outlined on the DPI&F website," she said.
