Cr Robyn Holmes Cr Robyn Holmes

Brief Biography

Cr Holmes was born in Hughende and raised on a sheep and cattle property in the Hughenden district. Robyn's childhood was spent on the family property for the most part, without television, so horses and cattle work were a favourite pastime. She has lived and worked in mostly country areas, including Longreach, Blackall, Roma and Hughenden, gaining experience in various State Government administrative roles. Other sectors Cr Holmes has worked in include banking, retail management and rural property management.

Robyn moved to Cape York in 2006, where her husband's family had interests in Kalinga and Alkoomie stations. She settled in Cooktown with her husband and children and initially took up a part-time State Government position and volunteered as a teacher aide during Endeavour Christian College's first year. Cr Holmes holds a Certificate IV in Government Management, is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified) and has been involved in numerous community and sporting groups in Cooktown during the past 10 years, including organisation of the popular Police Charity Gold and Bowls fundraisers.
