Adopt a Pet

Local animals looking for a forever home

If you’re thinking of bringing a new dog or cat into your home, adoption is a very rewarding and environmentally conscious option. You have the opportunity to save a life and give a deserving animal a new forever home. After living in the pound or having a difficult start to life, your new animal will be especially appreciative of his new family.

Domestic animals (mostly dogs) are available in Council's pound most weeks of the year, that have either been found and held for at least 72 hours to await collection by the owner or forfeited for various reasons.

Most animals offered for adoption by Council are healthy and good tempered. Any animal - young or old, mixed breed or purebred - will likely need some training or retraining to learn how to fit into his new household and become your cherished companion. Council staff can give you advice and assess if the animal is suitable for your circumstances.

Content of this page is updated regularly, however there may be occasions when this information is not current.  Contact Council to confirm the availability of any of the pets advertised.
