Since 2007, Cook Shire Council has run and coordinated the Cooktown & District Country Show (previously known as the Cooktown Agricultural Show).  A team of dedicated volunteers from different areas of the community form the Show Advisory Committee and meet regularly with Council for the organisation of this event.

This year the Cook Shire Show Day public holiday is on Friday 2nd August, with the official opening of the Show that evening from 5pm.

Saturday is the big day – all day from 10am. The Animal Nursery will be back again, along with Squirt the Fire Truck and all your favourite market stalls. There will be all the displays and competitions demonstrating just how talented our locals are - arts and crafts, produce, photography, home baking, home brew and horticulture. So if you are thinking of putting your skills to the test, now is the time to get started.
