OUTDOOR DINING

Ensuring Food Safety and compliance in Cook Shire

If you have an existing food business license and want to offer dining on a public footpath or outdoor area directly outside your premises, you may need to obtain an outdoor dining permit from Cook Shire Council. This permit allows you to use local government-controlled areas, such as footpaths or malls, for customers to eat and drink.

To apply for approval to provide an outdoor dining facility on a local government-controlled area adjacent to your food business, you need to submit an application for a new license.

Please note: If you plan to serve alcohol in your outdoor dining area, you may also need a liquor license from the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation.
