Eastern Kuku Yalanji Native Title Determination (QUD 6008 of 1998)
Cape York United #1 Native Title Claim (QUD673/2014)
On 8 May 2024, the Department of Resources issued a notification under section 29(7) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA) identifying that the proposed Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM) 28595 is an act that attracts the expedited procedure.
This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will facilitate a meeting with:
- those people who hold Native Title rights and interests within the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Native Title Determination (QUD 6008 of 1998) within the proposed grant of EPM 28595 held (as shown on the map below in purple); and
- those people who hold or may hold Native Title rights and interests within the Cape York United #1 Native Title Claim (QUD673/2014) within the proposed grant of EPM 28595 (as shown on the map below in red).

Purpose of this meeting:
The purpose of this meeting is for CYLC to provide information and seek instructions in relation to:
- the expedited procedure statement attached to the notification of EPM 28595;
- the option to negotiate a cultural heritage management agreement for the CYU#1 and Jabalbina AC RNTBC areas.
