Turn the Community Purple! DFV Awareness Event

This May, the Cooktown Community Centre Domestic & Family Violence (DFV) Team is calling on all community members, schools, organisations, and local services to join us in raising awareness by wearing purple in honour of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

💜 By wearing purple, we show survivors that they are not alone and that our community stands together for safe, respectful, and healthy relationships.
By turning our community purple, we send a strong and united message: Domestic and family violence is not accepted here.

We encourage everyone to take part by:
💜 Wearing purple
💜 Displaying purple decorations at workplaces, schools, and community spaces
💜 Starting conversations about respect, support, and prevention

Together, we can make a difference. Let’s show our commitment to ending domestic and family violence and creating a safer, stronger community for all.
