PUBLIC NOTICE | COOKTOWN WATER SUPPLY

Web - Cooktown water supply post FNQ floods

Due to the extensive rain and flood damage sustained to the Annan Water Treatment plant, Council Council will be swapping onto an alternate bore water supply for Cooktown on Wednesday 20 December 2023 from 7am.

With this in mind, it is likely that residents and business in Cooktown might notice a slight change in taste and odour in their water. It may also have a slight discolouration. Following testing and advice from Tropical Public Health Services (Cairns) and Queensland Health Water Quality Unit (WQU) the water is safe to drink and is within the acceptable regulatory range outlined in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

"The water is safe to drink and is within the acceptable regulatory range outlined in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines."

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to repair the damage that our water treatment plant incurred in the wake of ex-Tropic Cyclone Jasper.

Should you have any questions, queries or concerns about your water supply, please email mail@cook.qld.gov.au or call 4082 0500 during office hours.
