MEDIA RELEASE | Council's upgraded Disaster Dashboard - the "central source of truth" for emergency events

With the impending high risk weather season, Cook Shire Council is pleased to announce the upgrade and relaunch of its ‘Disaster Dashboard.’

The enhanced dashboard now allows residents and visitors to Cook Shire to keep up-to-date with all available live information from credible and reliable sources, including the Bureau of Meteorology, Department of Transport and Main Roads, and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

Cook Shire Mayor and Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group, Councillor Peter Scott said the Disaster Dashboard is Council’s “central source of truth” when it comes to disaster communications.

“We strongly encourage our community to familiarise themselves with the Disaster Dashboard. It should be their first port of call during an emergency event as it shows everything you want to know, in one place using the most up-to-date and reliable information available. It’s also the first thing the Cook Shire Disaster Management team updates when a disaster event is activated.”

The upgraded interactive dashboard is now live on the Cook Shire website at http://disaster.cook.qld.gov.au/

This project was funded by the Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund (QRRRF) through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.

The QRRRF is funded by the Commonwealth and Queensland governments as part of its five-year National Partnership Agreement on Disaster Risk Reduction.
