2023 LAURA RODEO PUBLIC HOLIDAY GAZETTED BY STATE
21 June 2023 - 01:05PM
We are delighted to confirm that the Show Day Public Holiday for Cook Shire this year has been approved for Friday 23 June 2023, to align with the Laura Campdraft, Rodeo and Races Weekend.
Show holidays are public holidays appointed in districts throughout Queensland in relation to annual agricultural, horticultural or industrial shows following a request from the local council.
After a Council resolution earlier in 2022, and discussions with relevant State officers, Council were finally successful in conveying to the Minister that the aspects and values of a country show are evident in the Laura weekend of events, even if they are not recognised as a traditional Show Day.
This Public Holiday applies to all areas of Cook Shire and has been published in the Queensland Government Gazette, and online.
