Cook Shire Council has awarded the lease of the waterfront kiosk at William Daku Park in Cooktown to food van vendor and small business owner, Bek Stewart of Bektopia.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of Cooktown,” said Cook Shire Mayor, Peter Scott. “They add to the vibrancy and amenity of our community. Bek has a proven passion for Cooktown, and Council is absolutely delighted to welcome her back to our community,” he added.
As part of Cook Shire’s commitment to the Queensland Small Business Commissioner’s Small Business Friendly Charter, Council worked with Ms Stewart to allow her to park and operate from her food van ‘Betty’ at the kiosk site while she undertakes a refit and renovation of the interior space.
Bektopia will be onsite at William Daku Park and operational during this year’s Discovery Festival Weekend (17-19 June 2022).
Following the festival, Bektopia will be offering signature bowls and other delicious menu items for breakfast and lunch – weekdays (Monday to Friday) – until the kiosk fit-out is complete.
For more information, contact Cook Shire Council via email at mail@cook.qld.gov.au or phone on 4082 0500.
