Simultaneous Storytime Event
Join us at the Cooktown Library on Wednesday, 22 May 2024 for National Simultaneous Storytime
30 April 2024 - 12:58PM
Cooktown Library is proud to present a very special, First 5 Forever* Storytime event to celebrate the Australian Library and Inforamtion Association's (ALIA) National Simultaneous Storytime.
Every year as part of National Simutaneous Storytime, a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, family day cares, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
Now in its 24th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
Date: Wednesday, 22 May 2024
Time: 10am
Place: Cooktown Library, 33 Helen Street, Cooktown
This year's book is Aura Parker's Bowerbird Blues. Aura Parker is an award-winning illustrator, writer and designer. Her picture books are joyful with a playful sense of humour, brimming with details to explore. Aura Parker’s storytelling though words and pictures inspires imagination, courage and confidence in young readers as well as a love, curiosity and passion for nature.
"Oh, how I love the sky....
And moving through
The marvellous BLUE"
* First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, Coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with Cook Shire Council.
