Mulch and Compost

Cook Shire Council has mulch and compost available until sold out at the Cooktown Waste Transfer Station. Mulch is also available at Lakeland and Ayton waste transfer stations. Mulch is shredded and aged recycled green waste, while compost is green waste that has been shredded twice, aged for two years, and mixed with shredded cardboard.

Delivery

Council can deliver a truck load of mulch/compost for $90, or a ute load for $30, not including the price of the mulch/compost.

Load it Yourself

Mulch and compost can be self loaded at any time during regular waste transfer station opening hours, however if you are planning to self-load a large load of mulch or compost using your own loading machinery prior written approval is required. Contact Council's Waste Management team to request approval.
