ROADWORKS NOTICE | MULLIGAN HWY AND KENNEDY HWY
Council has been advised that the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will commence slope remediation works at a number of locations on Mulligan Highway and Kennedy Highway from Tuesday 7 December 2021.
06 December 2021 - 11:25AM
the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will commence slope remediation works at the below-listed locations from Tuesday 7 December 2021:
- Mulligan Highway (Mount Molloy – Lakeland), about 30 kilometres west of Mount Carbine: 7 December – 23 December 2021
- Kennedy Highway (Mareeba – Ravenshoe), a section between the Belson Road and Malanda – Upper Barron Road intersections: 10 December – 23 December 2021
- Kennedy Highway (Mareeba – Ravenshoe), near Tumoulin Road: January 2022
The above dates are weather and construction conditions permitting.
The works will improve safety for road users by stabilising the slopes and mitigating the effects of erosion.
Crews will be onsite between 6 am and 6 pm from Monday to Saturday. For the safety of workers and road users, there will be changed traffic conditions during the works. Temporary speed limit reductions and single-lane operation under coordination of traffic controllers will be in place.
Road users should plan their journeys accordingly.
Nearby residents and businesses may experience noise associated with the roadworks, such as trucks, heavy machinery and vibrations during the works. Every effort will be made to minimise these impacts as much as possible.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
More information about road conditions across Queensland’s state-controlled road network is available via the www.QLDTraffic.qld.gov.au website or by calling the 13 19 40 Information services.
