COOKTOWN CELEBRATES NATIONAL NAIDOC WEEK
The Cooktown community really got up, stood up and showed up for a united celebration of National NAIDOC Week 2022.
18 July 2022 - 12:03PM
It was a perfect morning in Cooktown on Friday 8 July 2022, as community members, friends, and families celebrated NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week.
Organised by the Cooktown NAIDOC Committee and Cook Shire Council, the morning kicked off with an epic brekkie BBQ followed by a march down Charlotte Street to Lions Park, where the beautiful Waalmbal Birri (Endeavour River) was the backdrop for a Welcome to Country, guest speakers, yarning, kids activities, music, and festivities.
A big thank you to everyone who made it such a special day
