Council advises the community that the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has commenced repairs along the Peninsula Developmental Road between Coen and Weipa.
These works are expected to have minimal impacts and delays to road users as intermittent lane closures progress along the road to complete repairs including:
- removal of silt and debris and repairs to drains and culverts
- repair of roadside erosion
- pavement repairs, filling potholes and scours.
These works will take place simultaneously with the recent emergency works road users may have encountered on sections of the road since the most recent wet season and are not expected to result in additional delays.
The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
TMR would like to remind road users:
- Obey all signage for their own safety and for the safety of other road users.
- At road work sites, please turn on your hazard lights at the back of queued traffic to warn approaching drivers. Remember – last in, lights on!
