Ordinary Council Meetings
Ordinary Council meetings are held monthly and convened at the Council Chambers located at 10 Furneaux Street, Cooktown, unless stated otherwise. These meetings are open to the public, fostering transparency and community engagement.
Attendance at these meetings is mandatory for all Councillors. Furthermore, the Chief Executive Officer, along with members of the Executive Leadership Team or relevant Council Officers, participate in the proceedings, offering necessary information or advice as requested by the Council.
Special Council Meetings
Special Council meetings may be convened to address urgent matters and are held in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 2009.
Agendas will be published at the earliest possible opportunity. Â
Notice of Meetings
Times, dates and location of the following year’s Ordinary Council meetings are decided by Council and published on Council’s website at the end of each year.
Details of Special Council meetings are published as soon as practiable after notice is given to Councillors. Â
MEETING Agendas, reports and minutes
Ordinary Council meeting agendas are available to the public before close of business on the Friday before each Council meeting.
Minutes are the official record of business conducted at Council meetings. The unconfirmed minutes are available within 10 business days after the meeting has concluded and are confirmed at the next available Council meeting.
