Missed your bin day? Out camping with no bin in sight? Finished a cracking day on the water with a bag full of fish frames and nowhere to dump them?
We’re here to save your nose and your weekend. Introducing: Abukkabag – the simple, low-cost way to ditch your everyday rubbish responsibly for just one dollar a day.
You read that right — it’s been available since June 2024, but now we’re giving it the spotlight it deserves.
One buck. One bag. Once a day – every day!
Abukkabag is as easy as it sounds. Bring one bag (up to 60L) of general household waste to any Cook Shire Waste Transfer Station and pay just $1 per vehicle per day.
It’s not a new service or a special promotion — just a smart, everyday waste option that’s perfect for:
- Locals with an extra bag of rubbish
- Tourists and road-trippers with camp scraps
- Fishers with nowhere to put those pesky prawn heads and fish frames
- Anyone wanting to do the right thing — the easy way
There are NO discounts for smaller bags (sorry, 30L counts the same!), and no sneaky big bags either — just one standard bag, up to 60L, for a buck. Simple, sorted, with no more stinky surprises left in the boot, or risking infringement fines for illegal dumping!
