Get ready for two days of creativity, laughter, and storytelling as puppetry takes to the stage at the Cooktown Shire Hall this August! With two hands-on workshops and a live performance from the acclaimed Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, there’s something for every young artist and theatre-lover to enjoy..
Workshops for Young Creatives
Kick things off with two exciting workshops designed for children aged 5–17 years.
On Thursday 21 August at 3:30 PM, join the Puppeteering Workshop and discover the magic of bringing puppets to life through movement, voice, and storytelling. It’s a chance for kids to explore performance in a playful, supportive environment.
Then on Friday 22 August at 3:30 PM, it’s time to get crafty in the Puppet-Making Workshop. Participants will design and build their very own puppet to take home — a perfect keepsake and a great way to spark imaginative play.
Each workshop is just $5 per child, with bookings essential and spaces limited.
Don’t Miss: Beanstalk – The Giant’s Side of the Story
Round out the week with a laugh-out-loud live performance of Beanstalk by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, showing on Friday 22 August at 5:30 PM.
You’ve heard Jack’s tale — but what about the giant’s? Step into Brian the Giant’s cloud-making kitchen and see the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story turned hilariously on its head. Expect talking bread, squished tomatoes, and a whole lot of giant-sized fun in this inventive, family-friendly show.
Children 12 years and under: Free (ticket required and must be accompanied by an adult)
Children 13+ and adults: $10.00
Bookings are essential for all events.
Whether you’re building puppets, learning to perform, or sitting back to enjoy the show, this three-day puppetry celebration has something for everyone.
