It was one epic moment — and now, it’s finally here to relive and share.
The wait is over! The incredible Solid Rock community sing-along, filmed at this year’s Cooktown Discovery Festival, has officially dropped — and it’s every bit as powerful, joyful and goosebump-inducing as we remember.
What started as a bold idea to bring people together through music turned into a truly unforgettable celebration of culture, connection and community. From the first drum beat to the final chorus echoing through the festival grounds, the energy was electric.
Together, we sang Solid Rock — the iconic Aussie anthem by Goanna that still resonates as deeply today as it did over 40 years ago. Originally released in 1982, the song speaks to truth, history, and the enduring strength of First Nations peoples. It was selected by Reconciliation Australia as the centrepiece of this year’s Voices for Reconciliation campaign during National Reconciliation Week — and while we missed the official cut-off, we knew we had to make our own mark.
And we did. With community members, visitors, and local legends Black Image Band leading the charge along with visiting rock goddesses, Hussy Hicks, this sing-along became a defining moment of the 2025 Cooktown Discovery Festival.
One take. No rehersals. It was raw, it was real, and it was a whole lot of fun.
