TMR Roadworks Notice

We have been informed that the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out reconstruction works on the Mulligan Highway (Mareeba to Mount Molloy), at the Big Mitchell Causeway, from mid-August 2025 until September 2025.

The work will involve earthworks, clean out and shaping of the drain and installation of fibre-crete.

Crews will be onsite Monday to Saturday between 7 am and 5 pm during this period, pending favourable weather, site conditions and contractor availability.

For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, while the works are carried out, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions, single lane closures and traffic control. Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS boards.

We appreciate your patience whilst these important works are taking place.

The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

To report hazards and obstructions on the state-controlled road network please phone the QLDTraffic hotline on 13 19 40,
