Cook Shire Council is encouraging local farmers, growers, and agricultural businesses to take part in the upcoming ChemClear collection event in Queensland, providing a safe and responsible way to dispose of unwanted or expired agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals.
Storing outdated or unknown chemicals on farms can pose serious risks to people, animals, and the environment. ChemClear offers a practical solution, ensuring these chemicals are managed and disposed of in line with strict Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines.
How it works
- Inventory your chemicals
List all unwanted or outdated chemicals, noting product names, sizes, and condition. - Register your chemicals
Register online at agsafe.org.au or by calling 1800 008 182. You’ll receive a reference number and your items will be classified as Group 1 (free collection) or Group 2 (fee applies). - Store safely
Keep your chemicals secure and clearly marked until collection day. - Drop off
Once scheduled, you’ll be advised of the date, time, and location of your nearest collection point. Transport chemicals safely in a ute or truck – never in the backseat or boot of a vehicle. - Safe disposal
ChemClear will ensure 98% of collected chemicals are repurposed as alternative fuel, with the remainder treated using specialised technologies.
Why participate?
- Protect your farm, staff, and family from chemical hazards.
- Maintain compliance with regulations.
- Contribute to environmental sustainability by preventing dangerous substances from contaminating land and waterways.
Register before 12 September 2025
The cut-off date to register for the Queensland ChemClear collection is Friday, 12 September 2025. Early registration helps guarantee your chemicals will be included in the upcoming collection and ensures safer farms and communities.
