Cook Shire Council advises that upgrade works will be undertaken on Strathgordon Road between chainage 15.9 km and 17.8 km.
The project includes the bitumen sealing of the road and the construction of a new culvert and causeway over the Colman River.
Scope of Works
- Construction of a sidetrack (approx. 3.5 m wide, local gravel) on the southern side of the existing culvert to allow works to proceed.
- Replacement of the culvert and causeway.
- Roadworks upgrades carried out under live traffic conditions, with vehicles slowed to 40 km/h.
- Drainage works managed under traffic signal control, with single-lane traffic in operation during certain stages.
Impact to Road Users
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane in sections, controlled by automatic traffic signals.
- Delays are expected – please allow extra travel time.
- Heavy construction machinery will be operating in the area. Road users may experience noise, dust, and vibration.
- Appropriate controls will be in place to minimise inconvenience.
- Please obey traffic signage, follow instructions of traffic controllers, and drive to conditions.
