Cook Shire Council’s much-loved Sunset with Santa event is returning to William Daku Park on Friday 12 December 2025 from 4 PM, bringing festive fun for the whole family.
Families can look forward to an afternoon filled with Christmas markets, live entertainment, prizes, activities, and a special visit from Santa himself — all set against the beautiful backdrop of a Cooktown sunset.
Parents and carers are encouraged to register children aged 10 years and under by Monday 4 November 2025 to ensure they make it onto Santa’s list and receive a gift from him on the night.

Registrations close strictly Monday 4 November 2025.
Registration is not required to attend the event — it is free and open to everyone — but only registered children will receive a present from Santa.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favourite Traditional Christmas Fun outfits for the chance to win prizes in the Best Dressed Competition, with categories for Best Dressed Boy, Girl, and Family.
To make the most of the evening, please bring:
- Chairs or a picnic rug
- Water
- Towels and togs
- Hat and sunscreen
- Positive Christmas vibes
