Cook Shire Council has now completed the upgrade of the sports lighting at John Street Oval in Cooktown, marking the final stage of this improvement project.
The modern LED lighting system is now fully installed and operational, meeting NRL facility standards and providing significantly improved illumination for evening training and games. The upgrade also included enhancements to the electrical system and the installation of specialised maintenance-friendly poles, ensuring the new infrastructure can be safely and reliably serviced in the years ahead.
These works were carried out by REES Sports Lighting, whose expertise in major sports field lighting projects supported the smooth delivery of the upgrade.
The project was funded through the Works for Queensland (W4Q) program.
Council appreciates the community’s patience throughout the construction period and looks forward to seeing the oval well-used under its new lights.
