Festive season brings communities together across Cook Shire

The festive season saw communities across the Cook Shire come together to celebrate a series of well-attended Christmas events, providing opportunities for connection, entertainment, and local pride.

The Christmas edition of the Ayton Markets kicked off the celebrations, offering a welcoming space for locals to shop, catch up with neighbours, and enjoy seasonal treats in a relaxed, community-focused setting.

The Lakeland Christmas Fair followed with a vibrant gathering featuring local stalls, festive activities, and family-friendly entertainment. Residents and visitors alike enjoyed the atmosphere, supporting local vendors and sharing in the Christmas spirit.

The Laura Community Movie Night delivered a relaxed evening, bringing families and friends together to enjoy a shared cinematic experience and a special visit from Santa. The event highlighted the value of simple, inclusive activities that strengthen community connections.

In Coen, the Christmas in Coen celebrations brought the township together for a jam-packed program of festive activities and entertainment, including surprise visits from the Grinch and Santa. The event showcased the strong sense of community that defines the town during the holiday period.
