With a low weather system forecast to approach the region, Cook Shire Council is sharing information to help residents stay informed, prepared and connected — without alarm.

Council’s Resilience Hubs and local Community Response Officers are on standby and ready to support communities if they are needed.

Your local Resilience Hubs and Community Response Officers

Resilience Hubs are familiar community facilities that can be activated during weather events to provide a safe place for people to gather, access information and receive support if required.

Each hub is supported by trained Local Area Community Response Officers (LACROs). These officers are your local Council contacts during an event and can help with information, coordination and assistance.

If activated, Resilience Hubs may be used for:

  • shelter and community support
  • access to reliable information
  • direct contact with Council through local officers

At this stage, all hubs and officers are on standby only and will be activated if conditions require.

Stay informed and prepared

  • Keep an eye on Council’s Disaster Dashboard for updates on conditions and any hub activations
  • Take some time now to check your household plan and supplies
  • Look out for neighbours who may need extra support

Being prepared early helps everyone stay calm and informed if conditions change.
