Free after-school youth program to kicks off in Cooktown from next week

Cooktown’s young people will have a new place to hang out, get active and have fun after school, with CDCC contracted to deliver an after-school youth program for school-aged children throughout Term 1.

Commencing Tuesday 3 February until Thursday 2 April, the program will operate as a drop-in youth space at the Cooktown Events Centre, offering a relaxed and welcoming environment for school-aged children to unwind after the school day.

Sessions will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3.00pm to 4.45pm, with no registration required.

Activities will vary each day and will focus on sport, recreation and social connection. Young people can expect a mix of fun, high-energy and creative activities including laser tag, silent discos, music, basketball, team challenges, team sports, skate park activities and more.

Important information for parents and carers
This program operates as a drop-in youth space and is not a fully supervised registered after-school care service. Attendance is assumed to be with parental permission. A sign-in register will be maintained; however, participants may arrive and leave independently at any time without notice.

This program is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Youth Development Partnership Fund, supporting positive outcomes, connection and wellbeing for young Queenslanders.
