Please be advised that Maritme Safety Queensland (MSQ) has extended the community consultation period for the Cooktown Pontoon until Sunday 12 April 2026.
MSQ had originally planned to host community information sessions in late March; however, these sessions were cancelled due to travel disruptions caused by Tropical Cyclone Narelle.
This is an important opportunity for the community to provide input, raise concerns, and contribute valuable knowledge that will help shape the design and placement of the pontoon, ensuring that its accessible to all users.
Community are being reminded that the consultation and project are being led by the Queensland Government. Therefore, all feedback must be provided directly to Maritime Safety Queensland.

MSQ will review community feedback before finalising the design and confirming next steps for the project.
