MARTON SWING BRIDGE

 UPGRADE AND REPAIRS

Cook Shire Council is restoring the Starke Street and Railway Avenue swing bridge in Marton to ensure safe and reliable access for the community, with a focus on improving infrastructure and all-weather access to the community.

Location:

Starke Street and Railway Avenue, Marton

Scope:

This project involves replacing the decking units on the swing bridge with durable composite materials and reconstructing the abutments on both sides.

Minor drainage improvements will also be made on the western end to enhance ease of access during the wet season.

As the decking and abutments are being replaced with like-for-like components, no new design is required.

Once complete, this project will restore the swing bridge’s functionality, benefiting the community, particularly school students who use the bridge daily to reach the bus stop.

    Budget:

    Anticipated Total Project Budget = $ 250,000
