Deputy Mayor
Cr Marilyn Morris
Deputy Mayor Marilyn Morris has deep roots in Cook Shire, with her family establishing residence at ‘Hazelmere’ in the Endeavour Valley outside Cooktown in 1959. After attending Cooktown State School and pursuing further education in Brisbane, Marilyn returned to Far North Queensland to immerse herself in the tourism and hospitality sector.
A decade spent in Western Australia’s Central Wheatbelt region provided Marilyn with invaluable experiences, including marriage and raising her two daughters. Her compassionate nature led her to the aged care industry, where she balanced part-time work, study, and family responsibilities with unwavering dedication.
Now serving as Deputy Mayor, Marilyn is committed to enriching the lives of Cook Shire residents, drawing from her extensive background in hospitality, healthcare, and community service.
