With direct waterfront access that’s minutes from the Great Barrier Reef, Cook Shire Council is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from creative and innovative visionaries and entrepreneurs for the development of a waterfront commercial release on Webber Esplanade in Cooktown.

Located adjacent to Cook’s Landing Kiosk and featuring 83mof land and an adjoining water lease area, Mayor Peter Scott said the release offers exciting commercial opportunities that will appeal locally, nationally and even internationally.

“Cooktown has the closest Port to the Great Barrier Reef. This release is perfectly placed for a creative operator to leverage Cooktown’s breathtaking natural surroundings, thriving fishing industry, growing population and reputation as a popular tourist destination,” said Cr Scott.

Recent public realm upgrades to the Cooktown Foreshore and Webber Esplanade – including the installation of the water play park, kiosks and toilets, barbeques, parklands, fishing platforms and the waterfront walk – are also anticipated to add to significant interest in the commercial waterfront release.

The EOI process will open from Wednesday 9 December 2020 until Wednesday 27 January 2021. Following the EOI process, Council could decide to invite tenders from a shortlist of suitable applicants.

For application details and to submit an EOI, visit www.vendorpanel.com.au or the Council website.
