Lost Property at Cook Shire Council Venues

Lost something while visiting one of our facilities? Don’t worry—we’ve got a clear and simple process to help reunite you with your belongings.
Cook Shire Council manages lost property across the Events Centre, Swimming Pool, and Libraries to ensure items are handled safely, securely, and consistently.
What to do if you’ve lost an item

If you think you’ve lost something at one of our venues:

  • Speak to a staff member as soon as possible, or
  • Contact the facility where you believe the item was lost.

To help us locate your item quickly, please provide:

  • A description of the item
  • The approximate date it was lost
  • Where you think you may have left it
How lost property is managed

When an item is found at a Council facility:

  • It is handed to staff immediately
  • Details are recorded in our Lost Property Register
  • The item is stored in a secure designated area

Valuable items such as phones, wallets, keys, and jewellery are handed directly to the Queensland Police Service for safekeeping.

How long we keep lost property for

Lost property is held for up to three (3) months.
If items are not claimed within this time, they may be:

  • Donated
  • Disposed of
  • Managed in line with Council procedures
Items we can’t keep

For safety and hygiene reasons, we cannot store:

  • Perishable items
  • Unsafe or hazardous items
  • Inappropriate materials

These items will be disposed of appropriately.
