Would you like to have your artwork featured on the cover of our first-ever, Reconciliation Action Plan – AND earn $500 in the process?

We are inviting local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 10-18 years old to create and submit an original artwork that embraces the theme The Spirit of Reconciliation for possible use on the cover of our inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

THE BRIEF

Cook Shire Council is calling on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to create an artwork to be used as the centre piece for our Reconciliation Action Plan. Council will select one artwork that positively embraces the theme: The Spirit of Reconciliation.

TYPE OF ARTWORK

Print, painting, drawing or digital artworks will only be considered. Three-dimensional artworks (sculptures, carvings etc) will not be considered. (See full Terms and Conditions).

ASSESSEMENT CRITERIA

In selecting the artwork for the inaugural Cook Shire Reconciliation Action Plan, the Council will consider the following:

  • How well the artwork reflects the theme of: The Spirit of Reconciliation
  • The cultural appropriateness of the artwork
  • The artwork’s appeal to a broad audience
  • The extent to which the artwork represents the Shire and the region
  • Suitability of the artwork to be used and applied – both in full, and in part – across a wide variety of traditional and digital media, including but not limited to: digital and print publications; websites and social media content; marketing collateral and promotional merchandise; graphic devices; signage and event branding.

SELECTION PANEL

All submissions will be reviewed by Councillors and assessed according to the selection criteria following the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 28 February 2023. Council will decide on the successful artist.

COMPENSATION

The successful artist will be offered a $500 pre-paid cash card. (See full Terms and Conditions).

USE OF THE ARTWORK

Artwork may be used for branding the RAP and for promotional purposes including on the website, print/marketing collateral, social media, merchandise and more. The artwork will remain the property of the artist.
