Stars Above, Hoops Below – After School Program Launch
A new Friday after-school program is coming to the Cooktown Events Centre.
In partnership with Thoegayn Zugub, a new powerful after-school program has been delivered, combining basketball, leadership, and cultural connection for young people aged 10–17.
Running across 10 weeks in Term 2, this structured program uses sport as a vehicle to build confidence, strengthen identity, and develop leadership skills in a culturally safe and supportive environment.
Each weekly session includes:
- A leadership “yarning circle”
- On-court basketball skill development
- Small-sided games with integrated life skills
