PRE-LODGEMENT ADVICE AND MEETINGS

Service for all town planning enquiries

Potential applicants can formally and informally meet with relevant council officers to discuss their development prior to lodging a development application. Depending on the level of required information sought from Council (general discussion or a formal written response) this service is free, unless otherwise identified as per our Fees and Charges.

While the pre-lodgement service does not guarantee approval of any subsequent application submission, it can save time and money for applicants. It will also highlight any issues that may need to be addressed prior to lodging an application, as well as the requirements for a well-made application.

Council’s Planning Team can provide general information during a meeting, such as:

  • Planning Scheme site specific information, such as zoning, code requirements, overlays and site constraints;
  • Examples of the type of development that is appropriate on a parcel of land;
  • The type of development application you may require for certain developments;
  • Application fees and if applicable, infrastructure charges calculations;
  • Information on whether an application may require State referrals (vegetation; main roads etc.,);
  • Documentation required to lodge a development application; and
  • How the development assessment process will work.

You should bring information about your development proposal with you for the pre-lodgement meeting, for example – a site plan of the property showing details of the development, specifics on the proposed development, any activity involving alteration of the land (excavation or fill), building roads or changing boundaries.

Please contact Council’s Planning Team should you wish to make an appointment.
