Enhancing Biosecurity: A Collaborative Effort Among Local Governments

Cook, Kowanyama, Mareeba, Pormpuraaw, and Carpentaria gathered for their third meeting in a series of five, where regional biosecurity personnel have come together to discuss common themes, share knowledge, and develop a tenure-blind approach to biosecurity issues.

We are proud to highlight the participation of our Biosecurity and Local Laws Manager, Darryn Higgins, who is actively involved in this vital group. With a solid foundation now in place, local government agencies can lean on their inter-agency peers for valuable advice and support, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at strengthening our region’s biosecurity.

As part of this initiative, a comprehensive inventory of regional personnel and equipment has been developed. This ensures that we are well-prepared to respond effectively to any biosecurity emergencies that may arise, safeguarding our environment and community health.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue to work together to enhance our biosecurity efforts!
