Community voices heard at Portland Road’s Meet and Greet

Portland Roads community recently welcomed Councillor’s and Council staff for an engaging meet and greet, where locals gathered with Council to discuss important issues and opportunities for the area. The event fostered a collaborative atmosphere, allowing residents to voice their concerns and aspirations.

A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a newly formed Not-for-Profit Association within the Portland Roads Community. This group is dedicated to driving local initiatives and is actively exploring opportunities to apply for community grants to fund projects that enhance the quality of life for residents.

Disaster resilience also emerged as a significant topic of discussion. The Council’s Disaster Management Team is currently working closely with the local Rural Fire Brigade to implement essential firebreaks. This proactive measure aims to safeguard the community against potential bushfire threats, ensuring that residents remain safe during high-risk periods.
