Cook Shire Council is seeking community input for the 2025-26 Budget Consultation through a short survey now available online.
The annual budget is a crucial tool for shaping the future of Cook Shire, determining how resources are allocated across essential services, infrastructure, and community initiatives. Council is inviting all residents and ratepayers to provide feedback on fees and charges, priority capital works projects, and operational spending.
What’s included in the survey?
The survey asks residents to:
- Rank areas where they least want fee increases
- Select which capital works projects should be prioritised
- Allocate funds across key operational areas
The survey takes just 10 minutes to complete and will remain open until 5pm Monday 31 March 2025.
How to participate
1. Review the Capital Works Project Summaries document to help you make informed choices. Some of the proposed projects may be new to you, and this document provides key details on scope, purpose, and funding considerations.
2. Take the online survey here, or collect a copy from our Main Admin Building or the Cooktown Library. If you prefer to complete a paper survey, please make sure your survey is returned and has been recieved by Council before 5pm on Monday 31 March.
3. You can also visit the Council stall at the Cooktown Markets on Saturday 22 March 2025 for more information and to complete, or hand in your survey.
Cook Shire residents are encouraged to get involved and make their voices heard. Help us shape the year ahead.
