Cook Shire Council wishes to advise residents and road users of multiple civil construction projects commencing across the Shire from week commencing Tuesday 22 April 2024.
These works are part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improving local infrastructure and ensuring safer roads and drainage for our community.
The following projects are scheduled to commence:
1. Adam Street (between Newman St and Seagren St) – Drainage Upgrade

This section of Adam Street will be closed to all traffic during works.

No access via Newman Street.

Please follow detour signage and allow additional travel time.
2. May Street (Furneaux to cul-de-sac) – Roadworks
-
Roadworks will be undertaken in preparation for sealing and kerb and channel (K&C).

Local access only will be permitted during this time.
3. Helen Street (Boundary St to Howard St) – Roadworks

Works will involve preparations for shoulder sealing and K&C.

Access will be restricted to local traffic only.
4. Howard Street (Hope St to John St) – Roadworks

This section of Howard Street will undergo roadworks in preparation for shoulder sealing and K&C.

Expect changed traffic conditions throughout the duration of the project.
5. Howard Street (in front of Coral Sea Units) – Roadworks

Works in this area are also part of the shoulder sealing and K&C program.

Please be aware of changed traffic conditions and drive carefully near the worksite.
6. Garden Street (Walker St to Kerr St) – Roadworks

Roadworks will be undertaken to prepare for shoulder sealing and K&C.

Changed traffic conditions will be in place.
