Splash Park works underway!

Cooktownโ€™s beloved Splash Park is getting some exciting new enhancements thanks to upgrade works that commenced on Monday 26 May 2025.

Council has installed a concrete strip around the park, which will soon be fitted with sandstone blocks. These new sandstone blocks will help create a safer, more defined edge within the Splash Park, helping to protect users while also offering additional informal seating for families. The new edging will also assist in keeping grass clippings and debris out of the drains and filtration system, supporting the long-term operation of the park.

A new shade structure is also being installed over the existing seating area to provide greater comfort and sun protection for park visitors.

To allow for the safe and efficient completion of these works, the Splash Park will remain temporarily closed. Council is aiming to have the project completed by Friday 13 June 2025, weather permitting, and will provide a further update next week as progress continues.

This upgrade is proudly funded by the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program and will help ensure the Splash Park remains a fun, safe, and family-friendly space for years to come.

We thank the community for their patience and look forward to welcoming everyone back to an improved Splash Park soon.shade structure is also being installed over the existing seating area to provide greater comfort and sun protection for park visitors.
