Cooktown’s John Street Oval is one step closer to a brighter future, thanks to a fantastic show of community spirit and teamwork.
A special thank you goes to Crossy’s Crane Hire from Cairns, who volunteered their time, expertise, and crane to assist with the removal of outdated lighting infrastructure—helping prepare the oval for the installation of new field lighting. Their contribution significantly reduced costs and provided valuable support to the community.
The connection came about while Ausco Modular was in town working on housing installations along Ida Street. Ausco helped link Crossy’s with the local footy club and Cook Shire Council, enabling the work to happen efficiently while the crane was already on-site.
Nicholas Predergast Concreting also played a vital role in the removal process, cutting down the large concrete bases to allow safe and effective removal of the poles.
Cook Shire Council sincerely thanks Crossy’s Crane Hire, Ausco Modular, and Nicholas Predergast Concreting for their generous support. This is a great example of what can be achieved through local cooperation and goodwill.
